10-1 to 10-31-2017 October in the States

We spent all of October in Indiana. Here are some highlights:

October 1-2, 2017 Visiting Eric's family in Haubstadt

One day we had an extended family cookout, and the next night we went to downtown Evansville for a fair.

October 6, 2017 First Friday in Indianapolis

First Fridays means art showings at different places around the city. We walked around with friends downtown and checked out a few places.

We got a tour of the Grand Hall at the Indiana Landmarks building before heading downstairs to the art exhibit.

October 9-11, 2017 Camping with Cara's family

We camped at Brown County State Park in southern Indiana. The first night was just us, and we drove around taking pictures of the park to update our website about it. The second day Cara's brother, niece and nephew joined us. It was rainy but we still found things to do and had plenty of fun. That night other friends joined us at a picnic shelter for a cookout. The following day we met up with Cara's mother in Nashville, IN for pizza before heading home.

Cara reserved a campsite right by the playground for the kids.

October 14, 2017 Parade and Ethnic Expo in Columbus

We met Cara's mother, brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew in Columbus for a parade downtown, then food at the Ethnic Expo.

Hiding decorated rocks around the town is also a thing in Columbus, and our niece and nephew were both happy to find one.

October 20-22, 2017 Hayride to Hell

Our friends have a gorgeous property in Brown County and they host a Halloween party/camp-out every year. We missed the past two years, so we were happy to make it this time - it's always a blast. All of our friends put a ton of work into their costumes and their pumpkin carvings, and it shows.

They used to cook a pig in the ground (buried by coals), but now a guy comes with a really nice pig cooking trailer.
Everyone else brings a dish for the pitch-in dinner Saturday night.

October 26, 2017 Visit with Eric's family

Work took us to southern Indiana again, which meant another visit with Eric's family in Haubstadt.

October 31, 2017 Return to Belize

Halloween had turned out to be the cheapest day to fly for us, so we returned to Belize. We were supposed to go to a really awesome Halloween party at our friends' in Hopkins that night (the neighbors who used to run a professional haunted house had set one up in in our friends' house), but sadly an epidemic of pinkeye in Belize caused the party to be cancelled.
