  • 8/31-9/1/2024, Saturday-Sunday - Biked the Beaver River Trail in Cannington, Ontario

We chilled and talked with Jesse more on Saturday morning, and eventually we decided to go for a bike ride. Here is our Relive video of our Sunday ride:

  • 8/29-8/30/2024, Thursday-Friday - Biked the Trails in Newmarket, Ontario

On Thursday, after getting some work done at our friends' place in Binbrook we drove to downtown Newmarket, Ontario because it looked like it had a nice walking district and some great bike trails. Here is the Relive video we made for this day: After our bike ride we packed up and drove north to Cannington to visit Jesse, a friend we had met in Belize. We walked into town, narrowly avoiding a hard rain, and had dinner at Pub 12, which was super slow because apparently almost everyone in town had gone to cottages for the long weekend. We stayed up late that night and had a great time talking and catching up with Jesse.

  • 8/26/2024, Monday - Hung out with Rob and Kathy in Binbrook, Ontario

We left Buffalo and headed to Canada. We used to do the Internet Marketing for a Canada fishing lodge for 17 years. Rob and Kathy owned the lodge and sold it about 3 years ago. They live about 1.5 hours from Buffalo so we decided to pay them a visit.

  • 8/27/2024, Tuesday - Biked Hamilton Ontario

Kathy took the grandkids to the water park and Rob was out farming all day....so we decided to explore Hamilton, Ontario by Bicycle. It is always fun checking out a new town and what better way to do it than by bike or walking? Here is a video of our trip. All in all it was a really magical day. Lots of new sights and sounds. At about dark we went back to Rob and Kathy's and sat around a bonfire and shot the shit until late. It was a good day.

  • 8/23/2024, Friday - Sunday, Matt Fest music festival

We met a guy named Brian who knows a lot about the music scene. He invited us to Matt Fest XXIII. It was a music festival where most of the crowd were musicians. They had about 20 bands over 2 days. There were 2 stages so the music was continuous. It was a lot of fun! We won't bore you with a ton of videos, but below are a couple. This video is typical of the musicians. Most of the songs were original songs that people had written over the years. In between bands on the main stage Emmie sang some songs. She has a great voice...You should listen to her.

  • 8/21/2024, Wednesday - drove to Niagara Falls then biked from there

We had biked from Buffalo to Niagara Falls 5 times before. We have blog posts to prove it :) It is a long ride though and we never had the time to explore the section downstream from Niagara Falls. This trip we decided to drive to Niagara Falls and spend the night and check out the part that is downstream of the falls. After the Niagara river flows over the falls, it goes into a gorge and forms giant rapids. Then it takes a 90 degree right hand turn and forms a huge whirlpool. We focused on checking all of that out on this trip.

  • 8/14/2024, Wednesday - Biked to a couple of outdoor concerts

Larkin Square in Buffalo has something going on almost every night it seems. It is about 3.5 miles away from where we are staying. Pretty much all of Buffalo is easy to bike. There are lots of bikers and bike lanes and all of the side streets are 4 way stops. Biking is almost faster than driving in Buffalo. Here is a video of the first band we saw: Here is a video of Maria Aurigema at Hydraulic Hearth:

  • 7/29/2024, Monday - Biked to Niagara Falls (Round 4)

It was another beautiful day, so we decided to ride our bicycles to Niagara Falls for the fourth time. We just can't get enough, apparently. Finally, here is the nice Relive video of our route with photos:

  • 8/11/2024, Sunday - Biked to Asian Food & Culture Festival

On this beautiful Sunday afternoon we rode our bicycles downtown to the Asian Food & Culture Festival in the Canalside area of Buffalo. We checked out all the booths and made a yummy dinner of things from several different booths: spring rolls, chickpea salad (amazing), BBQ skewers, and Butter Chicken. There was a variety of live entertainment on the stage, although it definitely wasn't all Asian-related.

  • 8/12/2024, Monday - Slow Roll bike ride in Buffalo

Every Monday interested bikers meetup at 6:30 to cruise around Buffalo. They go at a very slow pace and they name the ride "slow roll". It is well organized with a lot of volunteers in matching shirts. They block traffic so the group can stay together. We do a similar ride in Indianapolis called Bike Party. The two events are very different. The ride in Buffalo is sanctioned and permitted by the cops. They roll in a port - o - let and do everything the respectable way. In Indianapolis, Bike party is just a big ride and there are no volunteers, and very little planning. It is just a pop up ride with no permission or permits needed.

  • 8/10/2024, Saturday - Biked to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side

We planned to bicycle to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side with friends who spoke of how pretty the ride is there. Unfortunately, our friends couldn't make it, but we decided to go on our own anyway because it was a beautiful day. Finally, here is the Relive video of our ride this day:

  • 8/7/2024, Wednesday - Biked to two free concerts

We are suckers for free concerts (and free festivals, street fairs, etc.), and luckily Buffalo is full of them in the summertime. We are trying to take full advantage of this during our stay.
