- 6-3-2024 Fort Wayne, Indiana
After getting some work done in the morning and afternoon we decided to head north a little to check out the biking situation in downtown Fort Wayne. It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed riding on the lovely Rivergreenway Trail along the St. Joseph, St. Mary, and Maumee Rivers. We planned to eat at a Middle Eastern restaurant in Union Street Market, but everything had just closed when we got there. We walked around to check it out though, and we ran into some old friends we hadn't seen in years. They now have a stall at the market (Plowshares), so we bought some good stuff from them.
- 6-2-2024 Met Steve for Lunch in DT Indy
We left at about 11 AM to bike downtown to meet Eric's college friend Steve for lunch. Unfortunately, we are getting back in the swing of things and forgot to take some critical pictures. We used to naturally get all of the pics we needed back when we actively did a travel log for 7 years. Rust developed during the 4 years we took off.....nevertheless we did get some pics to document the day. The day was sort of cloudy, but not rainy. We just messed around and enjoyed Indianapolis.

- 5-23-2024 Potato Creek State Park then Purdue University
We stayed in South Bend overnight then got up early and went to Potato Creek State Park. We spent most of the day documenting all aspects of the park with photographs. They are in the process of building a 120 million dollar Inn at the State Park. They are doing the groundwork for it now. It will be many years before it is complete. These photographs are going to be used to build a Potato Creek State Park website. Purdue is about 1 hour south of Potato Creek. We rolled into West Lafayette at about 6 PM. Eric went to Purdue 40 years ago. A lot has changed since then. So much that it was hard to recognize. If you have ever played sim city, it was a lot like that. Houses replaced by high rises. Purdue is a unique and beautiful campus. Quoting from Purdue's website, "Today, Purdue University is one of the largest universities in the nation. Purdue's West Lafayette campus covers nearly 2,500 acres with more than 160 major buildings including academic and residential complexes." 2,500 acres is about 4 square miles. Purdue is all together as a big block There are no cars allowed and parking is on the perimeters. Instead they have bike roads throughout campus. The video above is of where Eric lived for 2 years. It used to be the big building on the block and was brand new in 1986. Now it is a tiny stone building to the right of the high rise. The weather was great and we biked all around Campus checking everything out.

It was a beautiful day and we had some stuff to do in the area, so we decided to head off to South Bend and bike around. South Bend is home to Notre Dame and is the 5th biggest city in Indiana with a population of 103,395. South Bend used to get a lot of river power and was an industrial town that built cars and stuff. It is a beautiful city with a lot of character.
