11/4/2024, Monday - Life Update

Sorry for the long silence, but life threw us a curveball, and we had to roll with it. So, we enjoyed our time in Canada, then went back to Buffalo, NY for a few days before heading back to Indianapolis in hopes of making the September Bike Party.

We drove to Erie, Pennsylvania and decided to stay the night there. We had a nice time riding our bikes around town and through Presque Isle State Park.

Unfortunately, on September 12th, as we were getting on the interstate to leave Erie we got rear-ended. We were fine, but the bikes were smashed into the back of our car. We were still able to limp back to Indy, but it was a mess.

Eventually, the insurance company of the tow truck driver that hit us (oh, the irony!) paid us out for the new bikes, bike rack, and a totaled vehicle.

On bikes we borrowed from friends we were able to attend the September Bike Party.

Thankfully, relatively quickly, we found a good deal on a used vehicle - a sizeable upgrade from the Prius V. We are now the proud owners of a Toyota Sienna minivan we named Pearl. Of course, it is also converted to camp out of.

At this same time, we also got new bikes and bike rack. I know, we have had terrible luck with bikes, so we are praying that bad luck is over now.

At the end of September we attended a beautiful formal wedding, with reception in the countryside. It was just after the hurricane passed through, so it was a rainy, muddy mess.

We ended up in Nashville, Tennessee for my (Cara's) birthday.

We attended the October Bike Party on our new bikes.

We also camped at our friends' annual Hayride to Hell party. Our friend Mark won the pumpkin carving contest (as usual) with his Pumpkin King.

We went on a "leaf peeping" bus tour organized by other friends.

We lucked into free tickets to a concert and Cara fell in love with Cimafunk, an Afro Cuban Funk band that was just out of this world live!

The weather hasn't been too bad lately, so we have been biking on the nice days and enjoying the fall colors.
