12-1 to 12-31-2017 December in Hopkins

There was also plenty of mini-golf and weekly local music events, but here are some other highlights from our December in Hopkins, Belize:

December 3, 2017 - Full Moon Groove

Electronic music isn't "our thing" in general, but when the groove is right, it's wonderful. Our friend and DJ, Uwe K, made this evening really nice at Driftwood Beach Bar & Pizza Shack.  The bonfire later in the evening was the perfect ending.

December 6, 2017  Jazz and Blues at Windschief Beach Bar

Randy and Amber (a duo) teamed up with our musician friend Trevor for some nice old-timey jazz and blues.

Another woman in the crowd was a singer and belted out some nice Janis Joplin tunes.

It was also the bar owners' son's birthday, and he got a brand new keyboard.

December 17, 2017  Blues at Peer's Place

In case you can't tell, we like live music. Steev Inglish (aka Mr. Downchild) and Casimiro Vogel make up Blues Meets Girl,
and they are always enjoyable to watch perform.

December 23, 2017  Annual Foosball Tournament

Eric teamed with Will for the doubles tournament at Windschief Beach Bar - they didn't win, but they had fun.

The owner, Oli, sets up a camera over the table so people in the bar can see what's going on.

Eric played in the singles tournament as well. He played Trevor in the finals, and it came down to the last ball to decide it.

Eric won!

December 24, 2017  Christmas Eve beach walk

One of the resorts now offers parasailing.  Opinions in the village are mixed as to whether this is a good thing.

Our lovely view at lunch.

Stuffed fry jacks for Christmas Eve meal - that's traditional, right?

And veggie nachos...don't judge, lol.

December 25, 2017  Christmas Pot-luck

Lots of "ex-pats" gather at Diversity Cafe for a pot-luck dinner on Christmas Day, and it's always a good time with tons of
great food.

December 31, 2017  New Year's Eve

It may seem like Windschief Beach Bar is our second home, but that's because we have so many friends there, and it's
always a good time.  So, of course, that's where we go for the New Year's party!

11-23-2017 Thanksgiving in Hopkins, Belize

We were invited to two different pot-luck style Thanksgiving dinners with expats living here. We split our time between the two, and both were fun.

The first was a much smaller, more intimate gathering at a friend's house.

The dog was between our host's feet licking up the turkey drippings as it was being carved.

The second party was at Mango's Beachfront Bar, and there were lots of people there.

11-1 to 11-20-2017 Miscellaneous Events

On Monday nights Windschief Beach Bar shows movies for free, so we usually go because, why not? This month we
watched "Coyote Ugly", a "Wayne's World" double feature, and "A Christmas Story" (Cara's suggestion, because in her
family it's just not Christmas without watching that movie at least once).

Cara started taking Jujitsu classes. She made one class at this beautiful location on a Tuesday morning because our Internet
wasn't hooked up yet, so no work could be done.

However, once Internet got hooked up, she could only attend the Thursday night and Sunday morning classes at Windschief
Beach Bar. Actually, Cara is learning Jujitsu (great self defense) AND Kobudo (working with weapons).

Tuesday nights we usually head to Driftwood Pizza Shack for their jam night.

If rain is possible, the musicians play inside, but when it is nice they play outside, which is always better.

November 10th we went to the grand opening of The Sea Bar at Beaches & Dreams (under new ownership).

Big news - our little village is getting paved roads! This is step one, laying down lots of gravel.

November 15th brought the monthly mini-golf tournament, which is always fun regardless of where we place.

Our friend Trevor came in first this month.
